Clery Act State of the Field Survey

For this week, I want to spotlight one of our contributors to the inaugural edition of HigherEdRisk, the Clery Center.

The Clery Center just released the results from their insightful 2024 "๐˜Š๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜บ ๐˜ˆ๐˜ค๐˜ต ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ฅ ๐˜š๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ." This important read is essential for all higher education exdcutives, boards and fiduciaries. With increased regulatory scrutiny and public attention on the importance of campus safety, now is the perfect time to elevate your riskmanagement practices and support strategic investment in CleryAct compliance.

The Clery report states, "While many colleges and universities demonstrate a commitment to Clery Act requirements through the establishment of key roles, training programs, and support mechanisms, significant GAPS remain."

So what can be done?

The survey data provides higher education leaders with opportunities to strengthen campus safety by implementing the following:

  1. Foster cross-functional hashtag#collaboration between departments to streamline reporting and response protocols.

  2. Support hashtag#training programs to build awareness and campus knowledge.

  3. Secure hashtag#executive-level sponsorship to enhance hashtag#accountability and increased resource allocation.

Adopting these risk mitigations can help transform your institution's CleryAct compliance from meeting a regulatory obligation into a "best-in-class" risk management strategy. This is a win-win for students, faculty, staff, and our campus community at large.
